Title: I Wanna Kiss The... Groom?
Fandom: Sports Night
Rating:
Pairing: Dan/Casey
Authors Note: (From original posting) I got hit with a little bit of a fic idea this morning, and there was no way I could go to bed without getting the damn thing out of my head...
So here we are. My first ever Sports Night fic, inspired by the song 'I Wanna Kiss The Bride' by Elton John. Radio One were trying to be cute/sarcastic while covering his wedding to his partner David today...
Pre-Sports Night - probably even pre-Lonestar Sports

He’s known this was a bad idea all along.

Sure he was flattered to have been asked, but why the hell hadn’t he said no.

One look at the man stood next to him, fidgeting nervously, gave him his answer. Danny had never been able to say no to Casey. Ever.

So here he was, not only attending his first Christian wedding but standing alongside the anxious groom. Waiting for the bride to join them.

If nothing else, the song he heard on the radio when his alarm went off that morning should have been a clue. Or maybe more like an omen. Now he had fragments of that song in his head, drowning out the Wedding March.

And when the preacher said “Is there anyone here got a reason why they shouldn’t wed?”
I should have stuck up my hand…

But how could he? How could he ruin this day for Casey and Lisa?

Long before she met him, he was mine, mine mine.
Don’t say I do.
Say ‘Bye, bye, bye!’

Damn it, he was even twisting the lyrics of the song to his own agenda! He was so screwed….

They’d never talked about what had gone on between them in college. It had been the happiest time of Dan’s adult life, and Casey had seemed to be enjoying it too. But then Dana introduced him to Lisa and that was it. Danny suddenly had to be content with just being ‘the best friend’. Because Casey wasn’t that guy.

And what I planned to say,
Yeah on his wedding day,
Well, I thought it but I kept it hid…

And he would. He’d keep quiet.

Because this was what Casey wanted. And what Danny wanted – no, needed - was Casey. In his life. One way or another.

So he kept his mouth tightly shut and stood shoulder to shoulder with his best friend – his soul mate – as he made what Dan knew would be the biggest mistake of his life.
