I started writing this on the train going back and fore to University, having been inspired by my trip to see Titanic at a rival cinema, but I didn't get very far at all. That was before I took my Mam to see the same film in the cinema I work at.
I took the story into work with me one Saturday morning when I was rostered to 'open' the Ice Cream Cafe, which is one of the few places in Cardiff I know of where you can get Ben and Jerry's ice-creams. So there I was, all morning and most of the afternoon, sat on the peddlebin next to my till, scribbling away in my little blue notebook. I did the same thing during the afternoon of my mid-shift the next day and found myself with a near-complete short story.
So, you poor things, here it is. Hope you don't hate it too much. I consider it non-canonical, because I took liberties with Kathryn's character so I could, at least at the start, squeeze her into the Rose Dewitt-Bucater character portrayed by Kate Winslett. It also assumes that they never got those messages from home, and that Mark *did* wait for her.

Authors Note: (From original posting) I've had this in my folder since I started chatting to YCD over the internet (though I haven't in ages), because she was pestering me to have a go. I don't consider myself any good, but both my worst critics liked this so it can't be all that bad. Now, of course, it's your turn. I don't mind constructive criticism...but be nice to me!
